Foodie experiences in Yorkshire
Dining destinations, tasting events, and hands on masterclasses, each offering a real taste of Yorkshire
Food events in Yorkshire start with the land. Seasonal ingredients, strong local producers, and a clear sense of place come together to create the region’s best food and drink experiences. Here’s some of our favourite experiences for those looking for foodie breaks in Yorkshire.
Cheese-making and Tasting with The Courtyard Dairy
The Courtyard Dairy is a specialist cheese shop and maturer, known for its focus on selling only the best cheese from the British Isles and Europe. Central to their ethos is the support of the few remaining independent farmhouse producers still making cheese by hand with unpasteurised milk from their own herds. This achieves a real depth of flavour, and each cheese is carefully matured in The Courtyard Dairy’s own ageing rooms near Settle. Alongside the shop, a full day cheese making course explores the theory and science behind making great cheese, with guests producing two cheeses of their own to take home.

Award Winning Dining at The Garden Room
At The Devonshire Arms chefs are always pushing for something new. Working with fresh local produce, our teams create new menus with each season using what’s grown and harvested at each time of year, picking some of the best seasonal vegetables from the kitchen garden right outside.
The menu features fresh, seasonal ingredients from Yorkshire’s local producers, artisans and estate farms, forming a diverse range of offerings from expertly cured meats and artisanal cheeses to fresh seafood, seasonal vegetables, and dishes designed for grazing and tasting. Book a table for your next visit to sample some of what we do best: local food cooked well.

Betty’s Cooking Masterclass
Learn to cook the Bettys way at the award winning Cookery School in Harrogate. Guided by experts in purpose built kitchens, you’ll work with quality ingredients to master artisan bread, pastries, or a full three course dinner. Courses run over a full day and are suitable for beginners and skilled chefs alike, each course covering different recipes and techniques and everything you make is yours to take home. Each course includes breakfast on arrival and a two course lunch with wine. Masterclasses range from the Art of Chocolate or Flawless Fondant Fancies.

Yorkshire Heart Vineyard
An award-winning vineyard and microbrewery based in Nun Monkton, Yorkshire, home to over 29,000 vines, is where you’ll find some of Yorkshire’s best home grown wine. This independent, family-run business operates a fantastic range of English wines and you can spend a day touring and tasting their vineyard.
You can choose a behind-the-scenes look at the process of turning Yorkshire grapes into award winning wine, with a glass of signature sparkling wine on the terrace followed by a walk through the vines. Or opt for a self-guided Cellar Door Tasting session. These sessions offer generous pours of wine paired with local nibbles, allowing you to settle in and soak up the views at your own pace.

Proper Sunday Lunch at The Fell Restaurant
Enjoy a traditional Yorkshire country roast at The Fell Restaurant in Burnsall. Roasts are served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, seasonal vegetables & proper gravy, with typical choices of roast beef topside, corn fed chicken, slow cooked belly pork, and sage & onion loafs. The ingredients on the menu reflect the freshest produce from surrounding Yorkshire Dales.
For something extra special, The Fell’s steaks are all sourced from pedigree Hereford cattle, born and raised just minutes from the kitchen. Naturally grass-fed and pasture-raised, this beef is rich in flavour and fully traceable, supporting local Yorkshire farmers. To top it off, the garden and conservatory come with unmatched views over the Wharfe Valley that you’ll struggle to find anywhere else.

The Devonshire Arms and The Fell Hotel in the Yorkshire Dales provide the perfect estate escape for foodie breaks in Yorkshire. Stay at one of our hotels or an estate cottage and take advantage of the many food events in Yorkshire.
